Part of the city of Charleston, Daniel Island represents one of the area's fastest growing family communities. Construction is expected to begin sometime in 2004.

Other highlights on Daniel Island include Blackbaud Stadium, home of the Charleston Battery, the area's own professional soccer team; and The Family Circle Tennis Center, an 18-court facility which is home of the world-renowned women's tennis tournament, the Family Circle Cup.
Daniel Island relaxing atmosphere contrasts with the numerous recreational activities available to residents through the Isle of Palms Park and Recreation Department. These activities include aerobics, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, soccer, softball and tennis. Residents also enjoy crabbing and shrimping in the beautiful creeks and deep green marshes that separate this semi-tropical island from the mainland. Wild Dunes Resort provides another South Carolina necessitygolf. The resorts two courses, The Links and The Harbor Course, were both designed by Tom Fazio. The Links ranks among the top 40 golf courses in the country, while The Harbor Course features holes that follow the Intracoastal Waterway.
