Culture, games, food, and family fun...Charleston is at it again. On September 20th, the Charleston Scottish Society will present the 48th annual Scottish Games. From 9 am to 5 pm, Boone Hall Plantation will host the festivities. Considered one of the best and most friendly Games the United States, the event is also one of the oldest Scottish Games events in the South. The Scottish Society of Charleston was created in 1973 to keep the Scottish heritage and customs alive in the Low Country of South Carolina. At the Scottish Games all are welcome to share in the many joys brought to us from bonny Scotland.

There will be several highlights throughout the day that are sure to entertain: from heavy (strength) Scottish athletics and Highland wrestling to piping, drumming, and dancing competitions. Live music will set the mood for a fantastic day including games and crafts for the wee ones, Border Collie demonstrations, and a beer garden for the adults. Be sure to visit the Celtic Nations tent during your visit, and don't forget to peruse the unique finds among the Scottish merchandise on offer.

The Scottish Society of Charleston also supports the community  and have been generous in distributing the proceeds from the Games. In addition to their donation of an entire room at the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Charleston, additional donations are made to various local charitable organizations and volunteer groups.
